Fabric-Specific Guidance
Nidha (classic abaya fabric)
- Cold wash on a delicate cycle or hand wash. Mesh bag recommended.
- Hang or lay flat to dry. Steam lightly to release creases.
- Avoid bleach and harsh stain removers.
Shiny Crepe
- Hand wash cold with a teaspoon of mild detergent per litre, minimal agitation.
- Do not wring. Press water out with a clean towel; dry flat away from heat.
- Iron on low with a pressing cloth or use vertical steam only to prevent shine marks.
Chiffon / Georgette
- Hand wash cold; do not soak for long. Avoid fabric softener (can weaken fibres).
- Roll in a towel to remove excess water; hang to drip dry.
- Steam at a distance; avoid direct hot iron.
Satin & Silky Blends
- Cold gentle cycle in a mesh bag or hand wash.
- Dry flat or on a wide hanger to avoid shoulder bumps.
- Low iron on reverse with a pressing cloth; steaming preferred.
Embroidered / Sequin / Beaded Details
- Spot clean where possible. If washing, use a mesh bag and the gentlest cycle.
- Never scrub embellishments. Blot only.
- Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry.
Colour & Fragrance Tips
- Wash dark colours separately for the first few washes.
- Turn garments inside out to reduce friction and fading.
- Perfume/Oils: Spritz on skin or inner layer, not directly onto fabric—especially light colours and shiny crepe—to avoid spots or discolouration.
Stain Quick Guide
| Stain | First Aid | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Make-up / Foundation | Gently blot with micellar water on a cotton pad. | Rinse cold, then mild detergent. Avoid hot water. |
| Oil / Food Splashes | Sprinkle cornflour/talc to draw out oil (15–20 mins), brush off. | Pre-treat with a drop of liquid detergent; rinse cold. |
| Tea / Coffee | Rinse immediately with cold water from the back of the fabric. | Soak in cold water + mild detergent; avoid bleach. |
| Deodorant Marks | Rub gently with a damp microfibre cloth. | Rinse, then cold gentle wash. |
Always patch test any method on an inconspicuous area first.
Drying & De-Creasing
- Reshape gently and dry flat or on padded/wide hangers.
- Avoid direct sunlight to minimise fading.
- Use a handheld steamer for most fabrics; keep a few centimetres away from the surface.
Storage
- Hang on padded or wide hangers; fasten zips to maintain shape.
- Keep in a cool, dry wardrobe. Use breathable suit bags if storing long-term.
- Fold heavily embellished items with tissue to reduce strain.
